During our Investing in AI Summit on November 12, we hosted an engaging panel, AI and Blockchain: Building Open Source Intelligence. Moderated by Paul from Bitte Protocol, the discussion brought together Luis Freitas of Bitte Protocol and Pierre LeGuen from NEAR.ai to dive into the synergies between artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.
The panelists explored how blockchain and AI complement each other to address challenges such as data transparency, payment systems, and scalability. Luis emphasized blockchain's role as both a payment and accountability layer for AI, offering solutions that ensure traceability and ownership in a decentralized future. "AI and blockchain together offer the accountability and traceability we need for a future filled with autonomous agents," Luis added, stressing blockchain’s potential to create a secure foundation for these systems.
Pierre highlighted the potential of AI agents to interact autonomously, leveraging blockchain for secure and auditable transactions. He shared insights into NEAR.ai’s open-source platforms enabling developers to create and deploy task-specific agents that connect dynamically to solve problems. Luis expanded on how tools like Bitte’s Beta.AI enhance agent composability, fostering collaboration among agents to execute complex tasks more efficiently.
Key takeaways included the need for open-source data models to democratize access and innovation, and the promise of blockchain as a foundation for autonomous systems. As Pierre succinctly put it, “In the future, AIs will handle tasks we find boring, but they’ll need a transparent and secure way to operate—this is where blockchain comes in.”
From creating decentralized agent networks to empowering developers with composable tools, the session underscored the growing significance of combining AI with blockchain to drive meaningful advancements in both fields.
